Couples Counselling in Takapuna for Stronger Relationships
Our counselling rooms are at 400 Lake Road, a short hop from the Takapuna shops, with parking and bus stops close by. That sounds like a small thing. It isn't. Plenty of couples stop going to counselling because the logistics became a mission, not because the sessions stopped helping, and being able to get in and out without rearranging your whole afternoon makes it easier to keep showing up.
Northspan Wellbeing offers couples counselling for partners who keep circling the same argument, who have drifted somewhere quieter than they meant to, or who are trying to work out what happens next. Some people call it marriage counselling, others relationship counselling. The words matter less than what happens in the room, and you don't need a tidy explanation of the problem before you book. Most people arrive without one.

Why couples get in touch
Nobody rings with quite the same story, but a few patterns come up often. Arguments that restart from the same place every time, whatever set them off. A slow slide into logistics, where most of the conversation is about pickups, bills and who is cooking. Trust that took a hit and hasn't recovered on its own. Intimacy that has gone quiet and now feels awkward to raise. Outside pressure, whether that's money or work or an unwell family member, leaking in and souring things at home. Big life shifts do it too. A first baby, a blended household, a career change, a parent who suddenly needs care. Two people who managed fine before can find they have stopped talking properly and can't quite say when that started and sometimes the reason for booking is the larger question of whether to carry on at all.
Talking to Us About Your Next Step
Making the first contact for couples counselling is usually the hardest part, and it's completely normal for one partner to feel keener than the other. Our triage counsellor will suggest the counsellor likely to suit you both before our admin team books a time. Alongside Takapuna, we also provide our services in nearby suburbs including Milford, Hauraki, Belmont and Bayswater. If you're still weighing it up, you're welcome to call and ask questions first. Our team at 400 Lake Road is happy to talk it through.

-
Yes, sessions can run by secure video if you have a device with a camera and microphone and somewhere private to sit. Plenty of couples mix the two, coming into Lake Road when it suits.
-
That's a legitimate reason to book, and counselling can be where you work out what you both actually want. If the outcome is parting rather than staying, we can help you handle that respectfully.
