A Supportive Space for Your Whānau.

Expert family counselling designed to ease transitions and build stronger home environments.

Rebuilding communication and strengthening connection at home.

No family is immune to friction. Whether you are dealing with parenting hurdles, navigating the complexities of a blended family, coping with behavioural shifts, or moving through a massive life transition, home life can sometimes feel incredibly tense.

At Northspan Wellbeing, family counselling offers a collaborative, neutral environment where your whole whānau can work through hurdles together. We don't take sides, and we don't assign blame. Instead, our goal is to understand each individual’s unique perspective, unearth the root causes of conflict, and equip your family with healthier, more compassionate ways to communicate and connect.

How We Support Your Whānau

Blended & Step-Family Dynamics

Navigating the unique emotional hurdles, adjustments, and boundary-setting of combined homes.

Behavioural & School Difficulties

Unpacking acting-out behaviors, school refusal, or academic stress affecting the home ecosystem.

Access, Custody & Separation Pressure

Navigating family structural changes while minimizing emotional distress for children.

Navigating Legal & Law-Breaking Pressures

Providing systemic, non-judgmental support for families dealing with youth behavioral interventions.

Teenage Transitions

Supporting parents and youth as they navigate the shift into independence and adolescent changes.

What to Expect

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who needs to attend family counselling?
This depends entirely on the situation. Sometimes it involves the whole household, while other times it might just be parents, or a parent and one child. We will discuss the best approach for your family dynamic during our initial consultation.

  • What if someone in the family refuses to come?
This is a very common hurdle. We can still start the process with the family members who are willing to attend. Shifts in how one part of the family interacts often naturally create positive ripples across the whole household.

  • Where are sessions held?
Family sessions take place at our Takapuna clinic, designed to be spacious, comfortable, and welcoming for all age groups.
